And anyone who knows me will nod vigorously when I say I struggle with color. So the combination of color and pattern being applied in large\u00a0swathes to a wall is something I avoid like the plague.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>That&#8217;s the thing with handmade items. They still have the person&#8217;s mark on them, and when you hold them, you feel less alone.<br \/>\n\u2015\u00a0<span class=\"authorOrTitle\">Aimee Bender<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Now while I confess a bit of a crush on the subversive punk energy of\u00a0Timorous Beasties, most\u00a0of the wallpaper I\u2019ve seen of late toggles between trendy \u201cfun\u201d\u2014the design equivalent of Katy Perry, all extroversion and perkiness\u2014or\u00a0is\u00a0a riff on William Morris and his earnest, if ever-so-slightly stodgy, gentility.<\/p>\n<p>But the wallpaper patterns\u00a0created by San\u00a0Francisco-based\u00a0elworthy studio\u00a0are\u00a0an exception. From the\u00a0moody, earthy, muted palette, and patterns that evoke shadow,\u00a0light, and texture, the feeling is calm, not frenetic, restrained yet\u00a0sensual.
